Reflection

After typing your Data Project reflection in a word document, post it to this blog.

In a well-constructed sixth grade essay, you need to reflect on our data project. Below are some good guiding questions to help you formulate your answer.

- After viewing all of the results, what is the typical middle school student?

- How do you compare/contrast from the typical student?

- How did the results compare to your original predictions?

- Is it likely that anyone is truly the “typical” middle school student? Justify your answers with evidence.

- If you were given an opportunity to do this project again, what would you do differently?

- If you had an opportunity to talk with any of the students from Peabody, Ipswich, or Houston, what questions would you like to ask them?

  1. I will have to type a well constructed sixth grade essay. On our data project that we have we worked on for weeks.
On our data project I think we have been working to hard because my classmates have been putting all there effort on this project .I have to say this was fun and hard working learning about students from 4 different states .because not many students have the opportunity to collect DATA from other schools in different states.
If I had opportunity to do this is again I would change the subject to how much water do you think is wasted a day and I would ask every last state and when I get all the data I would do a presentation on it to show the world how much water is being wasted .I want to choose this because you may never know your project can be in the president office or in a important lab on research of the earth water this is how I would change the subject.
If had a chance to talk to students from ISPWICH , HOUSTON ,PEOBODY I would ask questions like how did you feel doing the survey was it fun or not fun
?or I would ask the question from paragraph two . I would ask what president do you think should have won last year ?. or what do you want to be when you grow up. Basically I would ask any question.
I can compare / contrast from the typical student because neither way he/she have the same answer over and over and over it keeps going on and on it doesn’t stop .its like if I say yes .and keep saying I’m the typical student that would keep saying yes .its like properbility of me saying yes over and over .it repeatitly.
These are my answers to these questions and its my reflect

  2. Data is a way to get answers to questions you don’t know. I am going to tell you about my data project. I know what steps we did and what schools were involved. Read on to learn more about the project. So let’s get going.

We did many steps to finish our data project. We have given our questions to 3 other schools and they are Houston, Peabody, and Ipswich. When we had gotten our results we split them by questions and worked with partners. Then we used our partner’s laptop and made graphs when we had gotten the categories, the mean, mode or the range. Next we printed out the graphs and glued or taped our graphs to posters. That’s how we finished our projects.

I can compare and contrast myself to the 3 other schools. I had the question “where were you born? (City, state and or country)” my answer was the Dominican Republic. As you see my answer was different for all schools. The mode was Boston, Massachusetts. My question was categorical. My partner and I found out our categories by the answer that appeared most and answers that appear different.

What I liked the most about this project was that we got to work with partners to do a graph depending on questions. It was a team effort to finish the project. I think that if we could do the project all over again I would ask the students in Houston, Peabody ad Ipswich a couple more questions. I would ask them what was your favorite color? I have more questions but let’s get moving. I really enjoyed working with my partner. I loved the graph we made together.

You see that my classmates and I worked very hard on the project. Everyone gave it their best and all the graphs were great. This project had partners put their ideas into a graph that gives them a good grade. The collaboration was very successful. That is why I loved this project. Now you understand our data project and you can see how everyone impacted the project.

  3. Malachi Hernandez-Data Project

A month before vacation the 6th grade team of Academy 2 did a data project. Some of the data came from Houston, Texas, Ipswich, MA, Peabody, MA, and from LGF. All the 6th graders in Academy 2 put this data project together. But we did get a lot of help from the teachers. Without their help we would’ve never gotten this far.

In this project we had given three other schools a survey. Some of the questions were, what is your favorite type of music, where were you born, what is your favorite sport, etc. There were two types of data. Categorical and Numerical data. If you had categorical data then you had to put the information in categories. If you had numerical data you had to identify the range, mean, median, mode, and outlier.

When we had first gotten our question we had to think about it (What is your favorite sport?) Then there were about six-eight categories. Sports like football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, etc. I know for sure that my answer and Peabody’s are complete opposites. 16 people in LGF like basketball but in Peabody only two people like it.

What I liked best about this project was doing the voice thread. My partner weslin and I were the only ones to do voice thread because we were one of the first people to go through step-4. And instead of rushing through it in the class and many other students disrupting us we was able to take our time and not get any noises in the way. It was also fun because when I was done I was able to get a sneak peak of other student’s posters. If I could change anything about this project I wouldn’t change anything about it. I think it was fine the way it is.

That’s how the data project was and what we did. I hope to see the Houston uniform soon. And I also hope to do another project like this. Maybe it can be about MCAS scores. Who knows? It will be very awesome if it does happen though.

  4. During about 2 weeks my class and the other 6th grade class has been doing a data project. We’ve surveyed 4 schools. Those schools are LGF, Peabody, Ipswich, and Houston! We noticed that this project wasn’t easy when Ms. McGoldrick our teacher told us. Well, I thought I would go through it in a quick breeze. While the project was going, we toke more time for math!

We did 5 steps during this project. The first step was creating a survey so the 3 schools can answer our questions. The second step we did was collecting all of the data. Third step is analyzing data. We did sorting categories and finding the most frequent category. Next is displaying our data. For displaying our data, we used a graph site. We could use bar graphs, line graphs, pie graph, and area graph. The last step was sharing our information. We did that by making a gallery of graphs in our classrooms.

All 4 schools answers are the same and not the same. On LGF the question was “What is your favorite thing or hobby to do in your free time”? My answer was playing my PSP. That is included as a video game. Video games were the second highest category. One contrast about my answer is that it is a handheld device. People who answered video games, they meant Wii, Playstation 2, and X-Box 360.

I liked 2 things about the project. One was having a great partner that worked very hard and cooperated. Another is having a great time doing the graphs. While doing graphs we still faced obstacles. Also there are 2 thins I’d do differently when we do another project. One is making great ideas to finish and get a great grade. Another is trying to get help from a teacher. The math project was hard but I asked for little help not much.

This math project helped me understand other people’s point of view. When I’m at LGF I only know about 48 point of view. Doing a survey, I have about 100 point of views. I like see other people’s opinions because it shows I’m not the only that likes a specific item like me!

  5. For the past couple of months the 6th graders in A2 have been working on a data project that includes 3 other schools. Ipswich, Peabody, and Houston. We sent them questions that would later be put into numerical and categorical data. We put all this data together and compared them.
Well first we had to think of what questions we wanted to ask the students in the other schools. Next we took a survey on Ms.McGoldrick’s website. After that we talked about our questions that we wanted to ask the other students. Then we sent the students the questions and they gave us their answers. Finally we looked at the data, calculated it, made graphs about them, and displayed them.
The data that we found was very different from our answers, because people (kids) in different places do and have different things. We found the mean by finding the average numbers in the data. We found the median by finding what number was in the middle of the data. We also found the range by seeing what number was in the smallest number and the largest, and then subtract it.
I liked when we made the posters, because you got to draw and decorate the poster with your data that you collected. The thing that I would do differently next time would be to work faster when my partner and I were making the poster. I say that, because I think it took us too much time to finish our poster and we should have worked a lot faster than we did.
I really enjoyed the project that we did it was really fun and I wouldn’t mind doing it again. Just one thing , next time I won’t talk so much!

  6. For the past weeks we have been working on a project. A data project. We collected data from different schools some in Peabody, Houston, and Ipswich including ours. We did this to find out similarities and differences and even other things to know about these schools. In this essay I am going to explain my project and what we did me and my partner. Lets get started.
What we did in this project. In this project we collected data from different schools. What we did with the data was organize it, and put them into category’s there in. Either Numerical or categorical data. Then saw if there was similarities and differences and even more. We viewed and did what we had to do then put it on graphs and displayed what we learned.
Some of the things me and my partner did to do this data project. Number one I compared. What did I do to compare I took the data and saw how it was the same to what my answer was. For example one of the people in Houston had five classes which id similar to my answer because I have five classes too. That’s how I compared. Number two contrasting. How I contrasted. I contrasted by seeing how people answers were different from mine. For example I have only five classes while others have eight and nine classes.
    * Finding the mean, mode, median, outlier, and range. I found these answers by following the steps to finding these answers. Example finding the mode step one putting the data in order the seeing the number that is repeated more than one time.
What I liked about this project. The thing I liked about this project was exploring and seeing other people’s answers to my community’s questions. Also getting to work with the graphs and, being able to have this experience. Just seeing and getting to know the possible answers to our questions. The last thing I liked about this project was getting to display it. One thing I would do differently next time would be to not spend so much time talking so I wouldn’t have had to rush. That is what I would have done differently.
This data project. I really enjoyed some of the things we done. For example getting to do these entire things me and my partner done and the things we done in general. This was a really interesting and challenging experience and if I could do it all over again I would. This is well what I did I my data project. hope you enjoyed well liked thank you.

  7. Data essay
Well I am writing today about a five-paragraph essay. Of the data project that as a community we did. It’s going to be explaining what we did in the project; I am going to explain how I found the mean, median, mode, range, and outlier. Lastly I am going to describe what I liked about the project.

What we did in the project was that we’d rough draft our graphs. But first we took strips that the teachers gave us for Ipswich, Houston, Peabody, and Lilia g Frederick and total. Then we went to create a graph in the Internet and then with our partner/s we designed a graph. And when we’d think we where finished but first we had to preview it for any mistakes and teachers liked it she would save it in a hard drive and then sent it to print.

Well how I found the mean of the data by adding all my data from all places. Then dividing them by how many numbers is there. I found the median by putting all the numbers in order and dashing them from left to right. I found the range by putting the numbers from lest too greatest and taking the least #s name and the highest #s name. I found the outlier by seeing the number who was in a distance from the others.

What I mostly liked about the project is how we had to create a graph in the Internet. In the website called create a graph. Because when we created it in the Internet that we could of made our own colors. Also you could of make it any size and shape. Now you know what I liked about our data.
In conclusion I wrote three main different ideas that I was asked. The first was description of the project. Secondly we had to describe the mean median mode range and outlier. Lastly it was to describe was customizing and creating the graph. Now you know the conclusion of my essay.

Hello! Do you like data? Also do you like making wonderful poster that shows your data? Well I’m going to tell you’re about our data project. Also I will tell you everything that happened. So read on and find out about our data project.

First off what we did. What we did was we made a survey. Then we got a lot of people to do our survey. Then when we got the results from all of the people we started to pass out separate pieces of data. We got one catorgical and numerical data. We then found the mean, median, mode, range, and outlier. Then after we put the data in their own group that had the same question. After that the teacher a signed two people to work together. Then they got a question whit all its data. Then the tow partners would work together on finding the right mean, median, mode, range, and outlier to the question. Then after we done with that we made posters to display the work we have done and to show everything we found about the question. That what we did.

Second thing I got to compare and contracts myself to all of the data. The question I chose was “How many books do you read each do you read each mouth?” I first compared myself to lgf. I compared it because I go to this school. And we all read 2 ½ books each mouth. Next I compared myself to Peabody. Then I contracted myself. I did this because; I realize they have more people who read 3 books a mouth then 2 and ½ books a mouth. Then I chose Ipswich I contrasted myself. I did this because I realize they read less then we do. And final Houston I contrasted because I look to me some people read more then some and us read less then us. That’s how I compared and contrasted myself to the data.

The last thing I will tell you are what I liked about this project. Well what I like about this project is well is making the wonderful poster. I like that part the most was because, I love to make the poster colorful and neat and making. I like to like to make it look like a great piece of work. For next time I would like to make more data display of all the data be it self. I would like to do this because, it will show more. Also people would understand better.

Inconlusion this whole intryer project was very great. I hope we could do this again. And this is my five-paragraph essay on our data project.

    Data Reflection
Over the past two weeks academy 2 six grad have been working on a data project. Then we was supposed to write a reflection on it. The reflection had questions like, what was the typical middle school student. How did I compare and contrast from the typical middle school students. Also how did the comparing and contrast compare to my project. So in the following I am going to answer those questions.
For the project I did, the typical middle school student was exercise and sports. It was the most typical because it had more combined than the other categories. Also if you lined it up on a line plot from least to greatest you will end up on the exercise and sports category. So the typical middle school student was exercise and sports.
I compared and contrasted from the typical middle school student by taking the one that had most and the one that had less then subtracted it. I subtracted it by taking the one with 34 (the one with the most) and the one with 2 (the one that had less). Then I knew that that way I figured I was still in the 30’s so the typical middle school student was sports and exercise.
It compared to my project because like most others my project had one with the most and one with the least. Also that my project ended up having a typical middle school student. My project along with others had a meaning and understanding of the question it was based on.
So the project I was working on had a lot of information. Although I didn’t work on this project alone I had a partner and we had the same information. This project was fun the worst part was when we had to work on it and rush on it. Even though I had a lot of fun.

  10. In math class we did a data project. We asked different types of questions to different schools. The schools were lgf, Peabody, Ipswich and Houston.

So in the data project we asked schools some questions. Then when we got the results we presented it. By presenting it I mean that some did power point slides and some did posters. The data was not similar to each other. This projects name was “ who we are”.

I am going to tell you one thing that was a comparison to my answer and their answers. I noticed that my favorite sport was really like the other favorites. My favorite is basketball and on the data, basketball was most popular. How did I find the mode? Well, I saw which sport had the most votes.

This project was really fun. It had a lot of parts to it. But there was one part that loved the most. It was when me and my partner had to present our data. We made power point slides and then we made a voice thread. That was part 5, the best part.

Like I said this project was really fun. Also I was surprised of the data we got on the question (on a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you like your teachers). Thank you Ms.McGoldrick for assigning this really fun project to us.

  11. The typical middle school student is the student that chooses seafood. That is the typical middle school students because that’s the food that most of the students wanted to eat. All of the categories were, AMARICAN, ITALIN, SEAFOOD, SPANISH, and DESSERT AND OTHER. Most of the student liked seafood more then any other things. I compared seafood to all the other types of food. But seafood is always the winner.

  12. Who we are
I will be explaining what I have been doing these last three weeks and how it was finding the answers to our questions. Also trying to organize it properly.
We worked together and each of us got a chance to make our own graph and design it too. We did have a little fight but we worked it out, it was because she didn’t like the way our graphs looked so she asked another student to help that’s when I got mad because it felt like we did all that work for nothing but I left it all behind because she can put it the way she wants as long as we get a grade and we worked together I’m ok with any design. It’s like my dad said never compare your things or self to any body else’s things or self.
We found the mode to our questions by finding the categories that had the most votes total. I can compare my data to the other schools data because basically we have the same answer we have something in common, the five categories but the difference is that they all have different numbers. That’s why it’s the same as our data also it’s easy to compare to with other data pieces.
What I liked about the project was when we got to create our own graph and design it. Also choose the background, and the font color. The thing that I will try to change is the arguing between my partner and me. Unless they have a good reason then I wont argue rather than agree. We will work better give each other positive attitude toward the project.
This was all we did during this event of work. Also we used and showed a lot of team work in this activity. That is how we determine if we are able to work together to find out important information toward the question.

  13. We recently did a project called “Who we are”. We were told to take information from a survey taken by four schools (L.G.F, Peabody, Houston and Ipswich). Three or four days after this project were completed. We had an assignment to pick four of or classmate’s questions (including our own). Then compare nod contrast our self though their data. My question was what is your favorite subject? Two other classmates’ questions were where were you born? And On a scale of one to ten how much do you like your teachers? I was to answer a question that asked what is typical middle school student. I answered “a typical middle school students favorite subject would be P.E, they where born in Boston ma, and on scale of one to ten they vote there teacher a seven. If I were to ask these middle school students a question I would ask them “do you think you are a typical student?”
During the making of or data project there were 5 0r 6 steps. The first two steps were to add our own questions to a survey then take it. We also sent the survey to schools in Houston, Ipswich, Peabody and L.G.F. when we got the survey results back we assigned a question to a group of two and then organized the data. Then we put the data in a graph on the computer then made it a poster. Finally we presented our posters.
My question for our data project was what is your favorite subject? My personal answer to that question is math. Two of the four schools I studied I noticed all of the schools (Ipswich, L.G.F, housing and Peabody thee most liked subject was P.E. I also noticed although 18 students choose math at L.G.F out of the total 37 students like P.E.
My favorite part of this project was being able to work on create-a-graph. I enjoyed being able to learn a little about other students in other towns. I think it would be better if the students in Houston, Peabody and Ipswich could do the who we are project too. I also think it would be better if we got to meet them In person, I think if we got to meet them we could relate to them and their choices.
Thought out this whole project I learned lots of things. I learned that different people like different things. I saw some things I had in common with students in my class and in other schools. I learned that some of the subject’s students like in L.G.F, Huston, Peabody and Ipswich I like them too. I also learned a lot about graphs and how to create them.

  14. For about two weeks our classes previously worked on our “Data Project”. Our data project consisted of multiple questions that were answered by four different schools in four different places. The schools were LGF, Peabody, Ipswich and Huston. All of the students throughout these classes had to answer some survey questions and then the students were responsible to make graphs out of them with help from their partner or partners.

The students in LGF answered the questions on the computer for our first step. Then we had to organize the data as part of our class work and homework, this step was very tiresome but I enjoyed it at the end when we got to find the total. My partners were Monet and Giovanny; our question was “What Languages do you speak at Home”.

The typical answer in LGF, Ipswich and Huston is English, but in Peabody the language spoken the most at home is Spanish. When all of the data was put on the chart in the section marked “total” I found out that the language most of the student speak at home is English. The second answer that came up the most was Spanish. My answer to this question is English and it is the same as the data results because English came up a lot.
This data project was very interesting and I enjoyed working on it. My favorite part of the project was making a slide show of my data. My slide show consisted of five slides. Each slide had my partners or I talking about our data and the results we got. If I could change anything it would be to add more slides to my project. The reason is because it would show I am capable of doing more work.

If I could talk to any of the students in Peabody, Ipswich, or Huston I would ask them how frequently do they speak those languages at home, because some people might speak Spanish and English at home but I want to know which one they speak the most.
Our data project took us about two weeks to complete. Most of the things we did in our project were interesting but some of it wasn’t, like having to check the chart over and over to make sure the numbers are right, but it helped us become better at math. Overall this project was amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I will tell you what we have done over the data project and the thing I would be talking about is what we did and How I am comparing and contrasting of the data of all four schools and what I liked or disliked.

What we did over the data project is working on other schools and we compared us to the other school and we are putting the data in order and I think that’s what we are putting on or data project

I only contrast myself to school because they were trying to pick all of the different answers and I wanted to be a cook but people from other school did a lot of stuff and people gave out different answers and that was the thing I contrasted about all 4 schools because they all did not want to be cooks when they grow up that’s what I have to say in this part of my story.

I liked doing this project because you would be able to see what other school and I think that people and I think that this is what I have to say about the thing I liked about the data project and that’s it.

I have to liked the data and this is my the last one about the data that’s what I have to say of the hole data project and I think that people would be talking about how I did on the data project and this would be the end of this unit so that’s what I have to say all about that and what I said for the data project and that’s what I have to say all about it.

  16. I learn about that everybody has different answers in the different schools. Some schools were common with my partner and me. My question was how many siblings [brothers and sisters] do you have? My partner and I were doing the mode, range, median, mean, and outliers. The difficult was there was a lot of numbers we have to add. That was some adding. I really don’t know anything about the schools in Houston, Peabody, Ipswich and my school the Lila G.FREDRICK MIDDLE School. Maybe some of the schools have more siblings then me. If my partner and I do this project again we will change some stuff in are project like change the pie graph into a bar graph. My partner and I made a lot of mistakes when we finished are project. The problem is that we add the value wrong. Even our teacher Ms. Lider, we didn’t know which color the schools were. If I had an opportunity to talk to the students in Houston, Peabody, Ipswich, and the Lila g. FREDRICK MIDDLE SCHOOL I would ask them one question it would be what grade your in? I want to ask that question because I want to know what grade their in. This is my reflection about my data project .

    ReplyDelete
  17. Naiomy

I think that there are many differences. And one difference was that everybody had color. I will be talking about all the differences that I have noticed. I am going to have 3 more differences and each paragraph will have a different differences. That is what I will be writing about.
Another differences are that other people have different types of graphs then what we have. Some people have bar graphs some have line plots and people even pie charts. Their graphs can be vertical or horizontal some graphs are slightly different than each other.
Also a third thing that I noticed is that people have different organization. Some people have better and worse organization than me. That s what I noticed about the organization part.

I also think that everybody got a different grade in percentage even though we had graded them in A’s, B’s, C’s, and F’s. The reason why is because people focus on there work differently then others. And those are the things that I recognized.

The data project thought me a lot not only about data. But about communication. The reason why is because this project thought me how school subjects is able to connect to being a pen pal. And that’s what I know.

My project was like the same as other people because I did pie chart and a lot of student had to do pie chart to. there is a lot of different questions that they asked and it was all different. My questions was how many pets do you have and I had to compare it with others and when o compare it all of the other student dada was different and we all had different stuff.

The others project that I seen was a lot of good stuff that I didn’t have and I riley like they work and I think next time I should but more work in to it and I should have better resolve next time and I will like a better grade and I think those other student did a good gob and some of them did not such a good job and I want to do the good thing in class. I want to work as hard as every body in this class because I think that I could do better than what I did because I think in my project I wanted to work harder on it and I think next time I will and I will do so much better on every thing.

I think that most of the student didn’t under stand the questions and they but good work down but they didn’t under stand the questions. And I think that I did a good job but I feel like I didn’t do as much as jocileny could do and I did it by my self and I think if my team mates was there I think that we would done a better job and I think if I but more effort in to it I would off got a better report.

My fellow class mates are so good and I think they all did a good job on they work. For me to compare our work I think that my was easy because how many pets do you have ? Is easy because most of the people has no pets so that was not hard. My others class mates had how many time do you use a computer at home that is a hard question and I think that they had a hard time trying to count all those number and try to find the mean mode maiden or the mode and the outlier so that must be very hard for them but I know they are so smart and they could do it.

In my class and what I see I know that when
we all was doing the project we all worked hard on it and there was some of us that our partners wasn’t her and I think that was more work for us and I know that I was one of them and I was mad because they know that day was the last day to do it and I think that it was riley hard for use. When every student kept telling me that I did a good job and they said that they like my work I was so happy to hare that and I hope all my teachers like it to.

  19. After view all of the results the typical middle school student was the ease why? Because my question was not a yes and no question it was a numerical question and my prater too. I compare and contrast by looking what is different from my question to the data reflect. And what is the similar the similar is when I mean what is the same with my answer and data answer.
If they said I could do this project again I would change the writing and I would change do a lot of work in it. Also make sure that my prater no what she is doing and when I am doing a project again I would do it lot faster.
If I could ask Peabody, Ipswich or Houston a question I would ask them a numerical question because it’s a hard and I want to see if they could answer the question. And the numerical question would be how many book do you read each mouth? I ask them this question because some children don’t read book and some do so if they say ‘5 each mouth’.
What did we do in this project? We did the mean, median, mode, range and the outlier. A outlier is a number that is way out like 3,2,8,7,56 the outlier is 56 get it? Get it. A mean is when you add up a your number and dived it by how many number is there. A median is a number that is in the middle. A mode is the numbers that show up the most.
When I was do this data project with my prater I was happy because I did it at the school I was going

In the past couple of weeks our 6th grade classes has been working on a project. A data project. We are on our last step of the project. This step is where we hang our projects up some where around the classroom and then we have to compare/contrast our own results with the other person’s poster.
Description of our project. In this data project we made random questions for example, “HOW OLD ARE YOU” and we would put down all the questions we had on a survey so other students in 6th grade in, Peabody, LGF, Houston and Ipswich could take the survey. After they would take the survey they would send it back to us so we can organize it on different pieces of paper. They would have to be put on different pieces of paper if they were Categorical or Numerical. When we were done organizing our results from the schools we had to create a graph on our laptops showing our data from the survey, then we had to save it and get it printed out. By the time they were printed out we had already finished our posters. Our posters described the similarities and differences between the different schools and it also showed what our graphs look like so we could prove to them what we mean by same and different. When we hung our posters up in the classroom we had to take turns with our partner and explain what our poster means while we take turns exploring other posters.
Comparing/Contrasting. When I compare and contrast my answer with the 4 schools, my answer I always different from there’s because we’re different students in different schools in different places with different results to our poster questions. When I also compare my results to the schools I wouldn’t compare anything because I didn’t have anything in common with their results. When I contrast my results with there’s I get different answers because they had different results than mines.
What I liked about this project. When we were doing this project my favorite part was when we got to create our own graphs on our own laptop. Also, my other favorite part was when we got to create our data posters and make them look professional. Plus, one part of this project that was fun was that we got to work with our partners and we got to share our ideas with each other.
Well, I hoped you liked my essay I wrote very hard on by the way. This essay reminded me of all the hard work our 6th grade classes did on this data project.

  22. My name is Shomari and I’am going to write about my data project A.K.A survey . And while I’am writing about all of that I will also be talking about the mean , median , mode and range and how me and my partner worked together to solve this survey problem . In the project me and my classmates asked questions to other schools in other states and then when they all said there answers we recorded the data . And then we did our final draft and posted them around the classroom and shared them . My answer to the data was the same because the rating I gave the cafeteria food was very poor like most of the other students said. My answer was different from the other answer because I’am in a different state and they probably make different food. I found the mean by adding the values and then I divide it by the number of values. I found the range by putting the by putting the numbers in smallest to largest. And I found the median by crossing out numbers on both sides until I get one number. I found the mode by counting the number that shows up the most in the data set. One thing I liked about this survey project was us getting to ask other schools questions to see what they think. And one thing that I do next time is to double check my work and to use a calcalater to find the mean. And that is where me and my class left off and we have finished the project so far and I think I did great.

  23. Data Project Reflection Essay

This project shows comparisons to different schools in different areas. The LGF also responded. So we compare every ones data or answers to the questions that were on the survey that we sent to schools.

In this project we are going to make sure that we all take the same survey. Once we all take the survey we are going to collect all the data. When all the data is collected we are going to place the data in order by questions and schools. Without the answers from all the schools we wouldn’t have all the data we needed to complete this project.

If I had a chance to talk to any of the students from Peabody, Ipswich, or Houston I would ask them 2 questions. What is it like in your school? What do you think our school is like? I would ask them those to questions because then I will be able to see differences between their school and our school.

If I were given a chance to do this project again the only thing that I would change would be the questions, I would ask stronger questions. I would change the questions because they do not give us that much information about the other kids. I think we could have gotten way more specific and informing answers with really good questions. Then maybe next we could know more about them.

I don’t think it’s likely that anyone is the typical middle school student because everyone has different attitudes, ideas and thoughts about different things. Actually I don’t think there is such thing as a typical middle school student because everybody is different in his or her kind of way.

  24. My data is different from the others because my haves more and lots of information.
And my data is compare a little like the others because they are numbers in order and that they both are using the median mean mode and the range.
And the other school and the typical students the lgf school had similar things about the four different schools was that they all had same students that had the same kind of the data with each other.
    The Peabody was the same.
The Ipswich the different that they all have been going in order.
The Houston school the different between my and the others is that we have a small amount three and five.
The results compare from our school and the others school almost the same.
Also original predictions are that my data compare from the other ones is a prediction.

A person could be typical and normal if they was from a different place and yes my answer is yes because many people are normal and maybe the others school might be
Other schools could be normal or may be someone who ask normal and many of people are normal some are not.
Some people like to eat with there hands and some likes to use a fork and spoon.
And many people try to be very normal for someone.

If I was given an opportunity to do this project again I would change and I will change lots of thing and put more information so that people can understand it more.

If I had an opportunity to do this project again I will change more and put more information so that when the people reads it they don’t have to ask me.
Then I will put more information about compare and contrast about it.
Also give my data more evidence more about it like how did I come up with it.
And I will use again the median, mean, mode and the range and put the numbers in order to the least and biggest.
Also when I put them in order I will add then divide and use some vocabulary words.

If I ask a student a question from the other school I would ask them what color is there unit form for school.

  25. The 6th grade community created a survey and we posted it on our community page and some other students took our survey and we collected the data and now we just finished graphing the data. Now we are going to talk to you about what we did and how we created the poster. And what was the difference between our fellow classmates was. In the next three paragraphs I will be talking to you about the differences and what we did and what learned. And how we found the mean, median, mode range and the outliers.

What we did was analysis the data. We put it in order. Then we found the mean, median, mode, range and outlier. We also found the avenged. But before all of this we asked questions then we pick the question we liked the most and we created a survey for the people in Houston, Peabody, LGF, and Ipswich. Then they answered the questions and then we collect the data and then we started to put it in order. The order and we created our posters.

My data was different from the other members of my classroom because we all had different question. The answer that I put for my question “How Many Pets do you “ was 1 because I only have one pet and its cat. The way we found the mean, median, mode range and outlier was… we added all the numbers together then we divided it by how many answers we had to give us the mean. The way we found the mode was we put the numbers in order from least to greatest the we crossed off the number left to right until we had only one number left. But if we had to numbers left we had to find the middle number or the number that was in between both of the numbers. The way we found the mode is by counting all the numbers and then we notified the most common number and that was the mode. The way we find the range is by putting all the numbers in order from least to greatest then you write the first number and the last number of the data. The way we found the outlier was by put all the numbers in order from least to greatest then we noticed the number that had a big gap from the other numbers was our outlier and if there was no outlier we wrote none down.

What I like about the project was finding out new things. I also liked how we learned new facts about the other kids like “ Do They Wear Uniform To School?” or How Many Times Do They Use Computers At School?” and so that was something new we learned about them. What I would like to do differently next time is have them ask us question. And the other thing I would like to do differently is ask different question. Also ask different question to other kids because we already no a little about them so why don’t we ask other school different questions to learn a little about them too!

As you can see I’ve written to you what we did and how we did it. I also told you how we found the mean, median, mode, range, and outlier. The last thing I talked o you about was what I would like to do differently next time. As you can see we have finished our data project and now I have finished my essay about my data. I really enjoyed doing this project because I learned some stuff that I didn’t know.

  26. My class and I, for about 2 weeks made a multiple choose quiz for 4 middle schools in Massachusetts. The four middle schools are Lila G Fredrick, Houston, Peabody, and Ipswich. We made a list of questions we would like to ask the students in the four schools. We would send the questions to the schools, when they were done they would send us back the questions. We would have to find the numerical and categorical data.
Each student was assigned with a partner and a two question that we had asked. We would have to have a question that is numerical and a question that is categorical. We would have the answers from all the schools on a strip or two of paper. You would have to find the median, mode, outlier, range, mean for each question. Then you have to get it approved by a teacher.
My question for the data project was “how many minutes do you spend on your homework each night?” my answer to the question was 30 minutes. The comparison to my answer was that the typical time was 30 minutes. The contraction was that some people take less or more time doing homework then I do.
I liked this project because it was like a test for me. What I mean by that is I was testing myself on mean, median, mode, outlier, and range. I also liked how a lot of people from the different school like to do some of the things I like to do. If I had a chance to do the project all over again I would, because I think the project is fun. I would also like to find out if I did and calculated something wrong.
If I had a chance to talk to any student from all the different schools I would ask them “how do you transitions?” I would ask them this because we here at the Lila G Fredrick transition from class to class in a straight line on the third tile from the right of r the left. I would also ask “what type of electives do you have?’ This interests me because we have technology class, and I wonder if they have technology class. Lastly I would ask a student from any of the 3 different schools “do you have laptops at your school?” this also interest me because our school is a technology school, and I wonder how many technology schools are there in Massachusetts.

  27. Today I am going to be talking about the data project we just finished. We are going to also talk about what we did in the project. I also am going to talk about the mean, median, mode and the range and much more. That is what I am going to be talking about.

What I did in the project was I made a graph on the computer. I also made a poster on a big sheet of paper. I also presented my poster to some people. That is I did in the project.

I am going to compare and contrast myself ‘s data to the other schools data. My question was do you have a computer at home? I side yes I do have a computer at home the rest of the kid ‘s side yes but a few people side no. Only7% of people side no. The other question I surveyed was do you wear uniform to school? I side yes I do wear uniform to school. The rest side yes. All of the people side they do wear uniform to school. How I found the mean, median and mode was I did the basic steps. That is how I found the mean, median, mode and range.

When I liked about the project was I got to make a really nice poster. I also liked what mocking a graph on the computer. That is what I liked about the project. What I did not like about the project was when I hade to grade other people’s poster it was kind of hard for me. That is what I did not like about the project. I think next time
We should not have to grade the posters because it is complicated for me.

We just talked about what we did in the project. We also just talked about numerical and categorical data. We also talked about how we made our graph. The last thing we talked about was what you did not like about the project and what could we do next time. That is what we did in the data project.

¶ This project is all about us learning and community to people all round the world.
What we did in the project first we learn the mode median and mean. then we ask question to people in Ipswich and Houston and peabody like how old are you. aend how do u get to school. Do play games. Then we analyzing our data like we had to put them in order less to greatest and identify the median, mode, mean and range.¶
¶ 1. First I put numerical data in order from less greatest. Then I identify my median by finding the middle number the whn I got my answer identify the mode by look the number that apair the most in my data then we identify mean by subtrac lower number in our data then divide. Wha I like about this project was when we was making a project and was got draw yea brandly

  29. The 6th grade in A2 has been working on a project.

We then found out the answer to one of the questions. And that question is HOW DO YOU GET TO SCHOOL. How many people that go on the car, the school bus, public transportation. , other, walk. Then after we put the data in there own group that had the same question. After that the teacher a signed two people to work together. Then they got a question whit all its data. Then the tow partners and my partner was the prettiest girl in the hole class I mite like her
And her name is Aidelys but se dos not like me back . Second thing I got to compare and contracts myself to all of the data. The question I chose was “How do you get to school ?” I first compared myself to lgf. I compared it because I go to this school. And 12 of use taek cars 2 of use taek public transportation , 18 of use taek school bus .

  30. learn about the human body in 3 grade. I learn about how blood works. I also learn about the muscles, what happens when you digest your food. I started to learn more about the human body when we started going to heaalth class. There is some more things would like to know about the human body.

When you eat food you digest it latter. There a deadly gas that brake your food to smaller peaces. Then the foods you eat have to get out of your body. So it comes out by doo doo. Some food are easy to digest and other food are hard.

Blood moves through our body by our vanes. The heart pump the blood wich make the blood move around your body. If your heart didn’t pump the blood there would be no way for the blood to move, and you would die. If have a open cut and some else blood went in you cut, your dna can get mix up, you can also get a disease if they had a dease.

Our muscles work together. Your elbow can bend because your muscles are connected together, like your knee. Your head protect our brand so it doesn’t get hert, so we can live. With out our bones we would be like mice. We would also be ale to fit in smaller places like sakes.

I would like to learn more about our blood and our bones. I would also like to learn more about the head and the brain. I would like to know some things about the ear. Is their a place in our body were there is no bones. Their some more things I would like to learn I just forgot them.
